Arsenal to make audacious move for Schalke starlet Draxler
Arsenal have turned their attention to Schalke wonderkid Julian Draxler as they attempt to salvage a botched transfer window, Goal can reveal.
The Gunners have made an enquiry for the attacking midfielder after struggling to land some of their top targets.
Schalke value Draxler, who has earned six Germany caps at the age of 19 and is widely regarded as one the hottest emerging players in Europe, at the £40 million mark.
It is the latest in a string of increasingly scattergun moves by Arsene Wenger for marquee talent in the final stages of what has been a frustrating summer of activity for the club.
Arsenal have moved for Draxler amid growing doubts about whether they can capture Angel Di Maria from Real Madrid before Monday night's deadline.
Real have indicated they are willing to accept Arsenal's £25.6m bid for the Argentine but the deal has stalled due to Tottenham delaying Gareth Bale's world-record transfer to Real Madrid.
There are also doubts about whether Di Maria is willing to swap the Spanish giants for north London even though he could be the odd one out of the attacking misfielders available to manager Carlo Ancelotti this season.
The offer for Di Maria remains on the table but the Londoners are wary of waiting too long to capture the former Benfica man and risk failing to land any big-name stars.
Arsenal remain in the hunt for Wayne Rooney but have all but abandoned hope of signing other targets Luis Suarez or Karim Benzema.
Wenger also wants to add a midfielder - a second bid for Yohan Cabaye is still a possibility - and a goalkeeper, with Asmir Begovic the No.1 target.
Това е добро. Ама едва ли ще ни го дадат.
Браво, за Кабай пише, че сме се разбрали. Остава Уейн Рууни да дойде или някой от Реал.
Arsenal eyeing up move for Kalou
Arsenal could make a move to bring Salomon Kalou back to the Premier League, according to the Daily Mail.
Kalou spent six seasons at Chelsea before signing for Lille in 2012, but the Ivorian has been linked with a transfer to the likes of West Ham and West Brom in recent weeks as he looks destined to depart the Ligue 1 side.
Now Arsenal are set to be the latest to show an interest in Kalou, with the Daily Mail reporting that talks have been held between the two clubs.
A fee of £2.6 million may seal the deal, with Kalou potentially earning £60,000-a-week. Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has yet to spend money during the summer transfer window, but has made two signings, with young Frenchman Yaya Sanogo coming on a free and Mathieu Flamini re-signing for the club after being out of contract following his exit from AC Milan.
Калу не го ща.

Arsenal interested in signing four Real Madrid stars
Arsenal offered Kaka transfer and retain interest in deals for three other Real Madrid stars with just two days of the transfer window remaining.
Arsenal are eyeing up four Real Madrid players this summer, according to the Daily Mirror, with Kaka the latest to be added to the list.
The Gunners had previously been linked with playmakers Angel Di Maria and Mesut Ozil, as well as striker Karim Benzema, but with only two days remaining of the transfer window time is running out for the north London club to reinforce.
Kaka has recently declared his intention to leave Estadio Santiago Bernabeu, having failed to impress either Jose Mourinho or new boss Carlo Ancelotti, who is attempting to build a new era of Galacticos with the Spanish club.
All three attacking midfielders appear surplus to requirements, particularly with Gareth Bale set to seal a world record transfer from Tottenham Hotspur in the next few days, but Ozil has already signalled his intention to stay in Madrid, and a deal for France international forward Benzema too could prove rather difficult.
Real Madrid have already sold Gonzalo Higuain up front, and whilst Alvaro Morata is a fine prospect and Cristiano Ronaldo is increasingly deployed centrally, selling Benzema would leave the runners up of last season’s La Liga somewhat short in the striker position.
