1.I had a little look into Ludo last night and I think we need to be wary of thinking this game is just going to be a walkover.
They are a very young club with a very impressive record, albeit in what we (quite reasonably) consider to be a weak league. In their 13 year existence they've already got themselves promoted to their top flight and have now won their last 3 leagues and 2 of their last 3 domestic cups. They will be a side well used to winning games.
In their brief forays into Europe they actually haven't done too badly either.
First attempt in 2012/13 they didn't make it past the CL qualifiers.
Last year they fell at the final hurdle of CL qualification (losing quite heavily to Basel in the play-off), but made it into the EL where they topped their group beating both PSV & Dynamo Zagreb home and away, before going on to knock out Lazio and then losing to Valencia.
For a first proper campaign in Europe I'd consider that to be quite an impressive little run.
This season they had to get past Partizan Belgrade & Steaua Bucharest to get this far - OK not exactly heavyweights but both those teams have CL history.
Yes of course we SHOULD beat then, especially at home, but I don't think we can afford to take them lightly.
2.^You're right there, they won't be a much weaker side than the likes of Aston Villa that's for sure. So we need to be prepared, it won't be a walk in the park. However if we want to go through this game is a must win, no doubt.
3.Quite impressive that.
Definitely no walk in the park that's for sure and especially now we have seen a little inconsistency creeping into our game. They couldn't be playing us at a better time really with new lads bedding in and Sturridge out.
In one sense I think we are lucky we are meeting the weakest team in the group (on paper) as our first game and not Basel. We really need all 3 points from this game for a number of reasons including getting back to winning ways.
4.I know what you mean, but at the same time I think they're potentially more of a danger meeting them first, when we still know very little about them.
If they're going to spring surprises in this group they might be more likely to spring them early on more unsuspecting opponents.
We need to be properly switched on.
5.TBH they JUST lost to Valencia and actualy have very expirienced squad that is unusual opponent
They are 7/10 in every position(bar GK who they got just yesterday-literaly) -not 10's or 4's ,but solid 7
We need to be carefull-that's all
If we decide to turn up we will be fine -if we witness another Vila performance we will be in trouble
6.I think if we are switched on we should win the game but it's hard to know how focused we will be after the Villa game. Confidence will definitely be bruised but I'm hoping Brendan gets a really positive reaction from the lads.
7. think we'll be right up for it and hoping mario gets on the score sheet to help his confidence cant wait for the match also hope the crowd bring their support unlike the villa game couldn't believe how quiet the crowd were there was virtually no support at all we need to get back to the days of making some noise
9.ffs its a club we ve never heard of
cannon fodder
That's exactly the sort of blinkered view my post was meant to expose.
Just because you don't know them does not make them ****.
Just because they play in a weak league does not make them ****.
10.Our guys need to be carefull for Hamza,Marcelinho,ANice,Misijan and Beziak(also Minev at the back)
There is real possibility they won't be able to get a card for their new GK ,so it may be a good news-realy can't wait to see the game
11.They got to the l16 of the Europa League last year beating Lazio in the process over 2 legs. We should be beating them but they're not a bunch of mugs. They're probably as good as if not better than Aston Villa, all things considered, put it like that.
12.I really can see us winning this game, Our manager has not got a clue, I fear Ludogorets will beat us 2-1
13.Exactly.
Would you expect Villa to beat Lazio over 2 legs? I wouldn't.
Would you expect Villa to beat PSV 2-0 both home and away? I wouldn't.
Considering these guys to be no-hopers just because they play in Bulgaria would seem dangerous to me.
14.Mark my words Ludogorets will beat us 2-1, our Boss has not got a clue. i just hope Ludogorets don't beat us by more.
15.ludogorets are equivalent to a mid championship club
Last season they beat PSV home and away, and Lazio away.
You think Brighton could do that?
16.
http://anfieldindex.com/10649/view-b...udogorets.htmlGood read and gives a bit more insight on Ludogorets for anyone who wants it. They certainly wont be pushovers thats for sure!
17.Irrelevant of the article, they won't be pushovers. They have a lot of good foreign players and a manager who knows what he's doing. When you win the Bulgarian title in front of Sofia teams you've done really well.
We need to play a good game to beat them.
18.more or less half our squad injured or suspended or not match fit
19.Hoping for an early goal and a comfortable return to Champions League, but we did lose to Aston Villa so we may lose here and get relegated.
20.Wonder if we'll keep a clean sheet?
I wouldn't bank on it
21.I'm petrified every time we concede a free kick in our half of the pitch no matter who the opposition is
22.I just hope we don't underestimate them.
As some have said, they've beaten fairly decent teams in the past. Just because we haven't heard of them doesn't mean they can't do a job on us.
In the same way we'll be confident we can get a result against Madrid, Ludogorets will be confident of getting one against us.
