Liverpool vs Burnley betting preview - Mane the man to watch at Anfield, and beware the early goal
Don't get used to it, but last week's trends cleaned up for us!
"There will be goals at Anfield tomorrow," we wrote. "Over 2.5 of them and scored by each team."
We also suggested Over 3.5 goals was worth a dabble at 13/8, that both teams to score was nailed on at 4/7 and that a goal before the 27th minute at 5/6 was a solid punt.
We suggested The Reds would cover a corner handicap of -2 at Evens - they did, winning 9-3, that Arsenal would pick up most cards at 10/11, they did, and that Under 3.5 cards was an appealing 6/5. There were three.
And finally we backed The Reds to win at around 23/20.
No pressure then!

Corners
There's an overwhelming trend to follow here, but not one that's going to make us rich.
Liverpool are ranked 2nd on the Premier League table for most corners payouts, and have landed that bet in eight of their last 10 league games. They dominated the corner count 12-1 away at Burnley back in August, but it’s important to remember the Reds were a goal down after just two minutes that day (eventually losing the game 2-0).
Burnley have a poor corner-winning record, especially on the road, with just two payouts from 13 away games this season.
The bookies are all over Liverpool as the big favourites here, with the home team as short as 1/20 (1.05) for the Most Corners.
The Corner Handicap market offers prices of Evens and bigger (2.00+), with the -6 Corner Handicap on offer at 5/4 (2.25) with Bet365 for this one.
That handicap requires Liverpool to win at least 7 corners more than their opponent. They have actually managed that three times in their last four games – although just three times in 13 at Anfield overall.
That’s one of the biggest handicaps you’ll see in this division, so probably best left alone this weekend.

Goals
The goals market could quite literally be anything tomorrow. Eight of Liverpool's 13 home games this season have gone Over 2.5 and nine of Burnley's 13 aways have followed the same trend. That's reasonably solid, but over the last five games home and away for each side only two of Liverpool's last five have topped that mark, while four of Burnley's last five have.
Much better is the both teams to score market. Liverpool's last five homes and Burnley's last five aways have all seen that bet come in.
That is widely available at around 21/20.
While Liverpool to score before the 27th minute is very strong at Anfield - 10 of 13 home games and four of the last five, an early goal in Burnley away games is the opposite - six of 13 overall and only two of the last five.

Players
Keep an eye on the team sheet tomorrow. Ashley Barnes has started six Burnley matches away from Turf Moor this season and been booked in four of them. He followed that up with a red at Hull City last month. Will that temper his behaviour if selected, or will he follow that seasonal trend?
And if you're looking for an anytime goalscorer, Sadio Mane now has eight goals in his 11 home starts - but only three as first goalscorer.

Bookings
Liverpool average 18 booking points every home game, compared to Burnley's 30 away from Turf Moor. That margin is too slender to warrant a solid punt.
There isn't much to be found in the last five matches market either. Burnley have picked up the most booking points in only one of their last five aways, Liverpool in two of their last five homes.
But remember one thing....
If the trends aren't there ... don't gamble!
