[offtopic]Following the 3-0 defeat at the Bernabéu, Atlético Madrid manager Diego Simeone gave his thoughts on the game, suggesting that whilst his team hadn’t offered one of their best displays, Real Madrid had been very fortunate in how two of their goals had been scored.
“Real Madrid had a good game, with two goals that deflected off the bodies of our players. We tried, but we couldn’t find the right paths to have more balance.”
“They opened the scoring with a shot that was going wide, then they played well. We have to congratulate them for that. It was a game of few chances. Real Madrid were aggressive when they lost the ball.”
“It wasn’t our worst game. Two goals came from deflections, from long-distance shots. We lacked the ability to get our combinations going faster, or having more precision in the one on one situations.”
Asked about the three goals conceded and the chances of making a comeback in the second-leg, Simeone remained defiant.
“In life, there’s a first time for everything and that’s football. There’s still another ninety minutes to play.”
As for how the players took the defeat, Simeone simply explained that they’re not best pleased, just like any time they lose.
“It’s a blow for them, because they’re the kind of lads who suffer in a game when they’re not winning. They’re far from happy.”[/offtopic]
