Strengths:

Dribbling/Ball Retention: By far his greatest strength. He's the best I've ever seen at Everton when it comes to holding the ball and I haven't seen many in the league that are better at it. His combination of technical ability and strength makes it pretty much impossible to get the ball from him. I've watched a pretty good amount of Chelsea games and don't really know of anybody in your squad that has a comparable dribbling style to him. He's good at dribbling in open space via counter attack but you can really see how good his control is whenever he's being pressured. I would compare his dribbling style to Mousa Demeble of Tottenham and when I had heard that Tottenham and Chelsea were linked to Ross, I saw Tottenham as the more obvious fit because of the similarities in their game.

Two Footedness: Again probably the best I've seen at Everton at using both feet and one of the best in the league. If you had watched a match and knew nothing about him you would never know if he's right or left footed. He can generate great power with either foot in shooting or passing. Because of his ability with both feet, he has been used at Everton at both Left and Right Mid every now and then and his adaptability is another great strength of his.

Explosiveness: His pace and strength combo is very uncommon for midfielders that I've seen in the Premier League. Physically, you won't find many players as built as he is and I've already covered his strength when it comes to ball retention but his acceleration when he can get the ball is very impressive. He's not really explosive in the sense of being able to get sprint up the field for a counter attack but he can get the ball, take one turn, and be at top speed in an instant.

Young & English: Obviously this has nothing to do with his playing ability but I'm just including it for resale value. If you're English and have a pulse, you pretty much go for a minimum of 15 million nowadays. See: Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain going for 35 million despite doing absolutely nothing in his career. Getting Ross for 15 million is quite a good deal in this market for all of the factors that go into it.

Weaknesses:

Decision Making: I've seen many neutral fans who have identified Ross's biggest weakness as being decision making and I'm here to confirm that is absolutely true. It cannot be overstated how bad his decision making can be at times. The longer that Ross has the ball, the greater chance that he's going to make the wrong decision. He pretty much only plays at one tempo and doesn't have full understanding of when to hit passes. I don't know if this is something that can be coached into him or if it's something that he has to figure out himself but either way it's his most glaring weakness.

Work Rate/Stamina: Ross consistently gets subbed off or is absolutely gassed at the end of most games. His defensive work rate was never above average at Everton either which is usually not a problem for most managers but I can see it being a huge issue under Conte. In games where he would be required to press high you could see that he was visibly done around the 60th minute and would often get subbed off at this time. Because of his stamina issues he was never deployed often at CM often for Everton. I can expect Conte will give him some games there and I personally don't see it being a success.

Confidence/Handling Pressure: This is 100% the most frustrating part of Ross's career at Everton. Ross has played for two managers in his career at Everton (I'm not counting Unsworth and Sam because he's been hurt this whole time). He was brought up by Roberto Martinez and the hype began in his debut season with some impressive performances in the midfield. But after his debut season he was never challenged by Roberto at all and he didn't really improve any part of his game during this time. Roberto gets the sack before the end of the 2015-16 season and Ronald Koeman gets hired for the 2016-17 season. Within days of his hire, Koeman is publicly saying it is his mission to get the best out of Ross which Everton fans were delighted to hear about. Koeman gave Ross his chances without criticism and again with no improvement in his game, Koeman benched him and publicly called him out which is what every Everton fan was waiting for. It was during this time that rumors were swirling that he was looking for a transfer out which frustrated every Everton fan because this was the first time in his career that he had been challenged and he immediately looked for the door. He was slowly integrated back into the squad around the winter period and around that time,Tom Davies began to flourish and took a lot of the spotlight away from Ross. Ross proceeded to go on the best stretch of play of his career during this time while most of the attention was on Tom. Fast forward to his injury, not signing his contract, and many other issues and we've gotten to this point. I personally don't see how Ross can move to Chelsea with Conte as the manager and not be challenged, and I'm curious to see how it goes.

Ross's strengths are very high and his weaknesses are very low which leads to him being a polarizing player amongst Everton supporters.
