Draxler - Arsenal talks intensify to new heights
It has now been more than half a year that Arsenal have been in hot pursuit of young German sensation Julian Draxler, and as the transfer window approaches its deadline, Gunners boss Arsene Wenger looks to accelerate talks to finally seal the ‘real deal’. Wenger has constantly maintained that it is hugely unlikely that the Gunners will make any signings this January, but he always reserves special consideration for ‘special’ signings and Draxler has surely proved at just 20 years of age why he is so special.
Draxler has always been the game-changer for Schalke in the Bundesliga, happily carrying the team forward almost entirely on his own and naturally this has attracted Wenger’s attention. Now he is ready to finally push through the deal, with the Gunners’ representatives having already held talks at Gelsenkirchen last week, but failed to reach any conclusion with regards to the 37 million pound asking price of Schalke.
Now reports suggest that Wenger is eyeing a structured deal of 28 million pounds over 4 years, with some add ons included. Other rumours also suggest that Lukas Podolski will be included in a cash plus player deal for the young sensation. Either way, it seems that Wenger is pulling out all the stops to meet Schalke’s requirements, having failed in his previous attempts. Reportedly, the Gunners are looking to hasten negotiations to agree a deal for Draxler in the 7 days that are left of this transfer window.
Seemingly Arsenal are aware of the release clause of 37 million pound in Draxler’s contract that activates in the summer and are therefore keen to avoid a contract debacle involving any club that activates that clause, with Real Madrid and Chelsea sniffing around. Draxler has also shown a keen interest in joining the Gunners after being reportedly impressed by their playing style and training facilities.
It remains to be seen if Arsenal are able to pull off the coup and land back-to-back big money signings. If they do, Draxler’s arrival might just prove to be yet another masterstroke of the ever reliable Le Prof and add the final gear to the Gunners’ push towards Premier League glory after 9 long years.

Arsenal get response in £40 million chase
Schalke have dismissed talk of any potential Julian Draxler move to Arsenal as ‘wild speculation’
We have been heavily linked with a move for the 20-year-old in the current window, with a summer move being mooted if a deal fails to materialise this month.
However, Schalke’s general manager Horst Heldt insists the German international is going nowhere for the foreseeable future.
‘I am not aware that Julian would like to leave us, neither in the winter nor in summer,’ Horst Heldt told German newspaper WAZ.
‘There is no question of a bid regarding Julian. At the end of it, it’s wild speculation, which takes place over there in England.
‘The clubs would have to report to us if they were interested.’
Дракслер си е голяма хапка и трудно ще стане, но може и нарочно да отричат от Шалке. Ще видим..Треньорът на Шалке пък е дал интервю за goal.com и казва, че Дракслер още не бил готов за отбор като Арсенал.

Arsenal invited to bid for PGN
Paul-Georges Ntep may be on his way to the Emirates after all, if reports in TMW are to be believed. Ntep a pacy winger who currently plays for French Ligue 2 side Auxerre, has been a long time transfer target for Arsenal, and move for the 21 year old could be on the horizon, if recent developments are taken at face value. Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is a keen admirer of the player, and has publicly praised his qualities in the past, even saying that the youngster has the potential to be a ‘great player’.
Over the past month, Arsenal have scouted the player numerous times, sending senior scouts to watch the player in action. It is widely believed that Arsenal have received glowing recommendations from them. It was reported today morning that chief scout Gilles Grimandi was spotted watching Ntep in action yesterday, a telltale sign that the scouting process in its final stages, as Wenger is only known to send Grimandi to scout targets he is serious about.
Ntep’s agent, Mario Knez, told TMW today that no contact had been made with the player about a potential transfer, but Auxerre are more than willing to discuss a move in January, given that the right price is paid. “An agreement with Arsenal? There’s no truth to that. And Roma also interested? No, at the moment there have been no contacts with them. Is he leaving in January? It’s certainly an option, he is having a great season and Auxerre are ready to start a negotiation.”
However, Ntep is only willing to move to another club given that he gets playing time. The player had recently clarified that he is indeed open to a move to Arsenal, but only if he gets to help out in the ‘not so long term’. Another English club, QPR, are also said to be interested in a January move for the player.

Arsenal must break bank to sign £55m Man United target
Would Cavani cut it in England?
Right now is a pretty good time to be Arsenal fan, I’m sure you’ll all agree.
The trials and tribulations of last season, which promised a sense of foreboding for Arsene Wenger’s at the club’s helm have been put to rest, the shaky and unconvincing side that failed to keep up with the big boys of English football is currently doing just that and, due to the stringent financial tactics they maintained over the last few years, it finally looks like fans can expect them to pay serious money for the world’s best players.
Such good fortunes have transformed them in little over a year from perennial underachievers to realistic Premier League title challengers. What’s more, they can now set their sights to the top of the transfer market safe in the knowledge that they have the pedigree to compete for the signatures they need to propel them to success.
So what ingredients do the Gunners need to ensure that they realise their current potential and, for the first time since 2005, trump their rivals to a major trophy?
If you were to take a poll around the Emirates this very minute the answer you would likely get is a striker. Someone who can be relied upon to find the back of the net more often than not and either provide Olivier Giroud with realistic competition for a place or complement the Frenchman when played alongside him.
In my mind it’s been a mixed bag in terms of strikers being linked with the Emirates. From Konstantinos Mitroglou to Karim Benzema, we’ve seen a host of stars finding their way onto Arsene Wenger’s seemingly endless ‘January wish-list’. But there's one name that leaps out from the others, and he just happens to also be frequently named in connection with Manchester United. His name? Edinson Cavani.
The Paris Saint-Germain striker, though sitting at the top end of any budget Wenger may have at £55million, is an ideal fit for Arsenal in the current climate and his goal record speaks for itself.
Rumours are steadily pushing behind the notion that the Uruguayan hit-man is ever so slightly unsettled at Paris Saint-Germain, in part due to the standard of France’s ‘elite’ division and in part down to Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s unquestionable status as the Parisian outfit’s No.1 striker.
This should be sufficient enough to force Wenger’s hand in attempting to bring Cavani to the Premier League. If there is the slightest scrap of doubt then the Frenchman should attempt to manipulate it so that he can add the proverbial icing to his masterfully assembled cake.
There’s no question that Arsenal need to find a top striker before the end of this window if they harbour any hopes of finishing above the likes of Chelsea and Manchester City. Their squad is bursting with creative talent but if they can’t find that lethal finishing touch, the sort that Thierry Henry offered, then they risk losing out when it matters most.
The captures of Mesut Ozil and Mathieu Flamini were masterstrokes in the summer, if Wenger can replicate such success by enticing Cavani to the Emirates then there’s no reason why they won’t be able to continue their charge for the title.
