Arsenal are set to complete the signing of Morgan Schneiderlin, according to journalist Charlie Wyett.
Southampton enforcer Schneiderlin is expected to change clubs this summer and Arsenal have been linked.
Some reports say terms have already been sorted on a deal, while more recent claims Manchester United are looking to win the race for his services.
But the Sun’s Charlie Wyett, who has broken a number of Arsenal exclusives, told talkSPORT that Schneiderlin is moving to the Gunners.
‘I think Morgan Schneiderlin will be joining Arsenal,’ he explained.
‘He would be a good signing along with Petr Cech.’
Schneiderlin is likely to cost about £24m to sign.
GAZIDIS TALKS ARSENAL WITH SUPPORTERS
On Friday evening, Ivan Gazidis and Ian Wright met with the Arsenal supporters to convey the annual supporters evening.
Ivan Gazidis, the CEO of Arsenal, believes that Arsenal are on the right track and that different parts of the club are finally coming together.
Speaking at the annual meeting with various Arsenal supporters’ clubs on Friday evening, he also expanded on injuries and their ambitions for the following season. Excerpts of the interview are taken from Arseblog News.
Reminiscing on last season, the 50-year-old said: “We signed a few players and we were very happy with them, but they’re not going to just seamlessly come in and hit the ground absolutely running on the first day. It’s not an excuse, but it is a reality when you’ve got players coming back from the World Cup, especially because a couple of them lifted it, it’s difficult mentally to get back up to the level.
“For whatever reason, we just felt we weren’t playing in the way that we could have. We had a lot of injuries at the start of the season. We’ve worked on that, you can’t draw a conclusion yet, but you could see in the second half of the season that we reduced the amount of injuries we got.
“I hope, you can never promise absolutely, but I hope we’re on the right track.”
Upon being asked to elaborate on Arsenal’s injury woes by interviewer Tom Watt, the South African said: “Shad is a terrific, top class professional, but it’s not just about that. It’s about how you make all of the different departments, this whole area, sports science, isn’t what it used to be ten years ago.
“You have to integrate all different types of experts in their disciplines, bring that all together and all of your staff and in some instances change your methods and change training methods.”

Gazidis also believes that Arsenal are nearing the transition which began in 2006, when Arsenal waved goodbye to Highbury for the more lavish Emirates Stadium.
“I hope that you begin to see the different parts coming together. You think about this summer and it’s not just about signing players, but it’s about developing the club not just for next season, to ensure we’re at the top level again in five, ten, fifteen years’ time.
“We’re starting to do works on the other side of the stadium. We’re doing redeveloping work at Hale End, with our Academy – in 5 years’ time that is going to be unrecognizable. At Academy level, we’ve been making a really serious investment and producing those homegrown players.
“We’ve built [the first team] quietly and without a lot of fanfare a good and deep squad,” he added. “This summer is quite a delicate one for us, because it’s easy to improve when you’ve got obvious weaknesses, but I feel we’ve got a very good and strong squad across all positions.
“You’ve got to be sure that when you add someone, you’re really raising the level of the squad. That’s our challenge this summer and I’m convinced we’ll be up to it, as we have been for the last couple of years.”
When pressed to divulge the position Arsene Wenger is in with respect to the transfer market, Mr. Gazidis said: “We always try to sign players early but it’s a very complicated chess game, believe me. Pieces need to move around and with certain players, you need the deadline to force a decision.
“We’ve always signed players early but sometimes, players just don’t come up till the end of the window.”
He also hinted at a change in the upper hierarchies of the football club by saying: “The composition of the board is something we keep under review. It’s not quite the case to say we have no football expertise, we do have football expertise – I include myself a little bit in that. What we don’t have is an ex-player or that type of figure which is a model that other clubs have used successfully.
“It is not something I am close minded to.”
