Arsenal make trial offer for Abdulrahman, claims Al Ain chief
Rashid bin Mubarak Al Hajri has stated the Premier League side are keen on taking closer look at the winger, who impressed at the 2012 Olympic Games for the United Arab Emirates
Arsenal have expressed an interest in signing Omar Abdulrahman from Al Ain, according to the UAE Pro-League club's deputy chairman.
Rashid bin Mubarak Al Hajri has claimed the Premier League outfit have made an approach to take the UAE international on trial at the Emirates Stadium.
However, according to the club's chief, Arsenal have much competition from several other clubs also keen on securing the 21-year-old's services.
"Have we had an offer from Arsenal for him to come to train? Then yes," Al Hajri told reporters. "We've also had offers from Spanish teams, and other teams also, but the player will decide ultimately.
"We [have recieved] a lot of offers for Omar. If he finds the right environment, then we will be very supportive.
"It's a package that will have to be right, where he can improve his football. I'll leave that for Omar - that's for him to decide."
Abdulrahman caught the eye of a number of clubs while playing for his country at the 2012 Olympic Games, where he made three appearances.
He has also played at Under-20 and Under-23 level for the UAE, as well as featuring for Al Ain in the AFC Champions League.
FINALLY- Arsenal about to complete 1st (non-free) transfer
The Emirates cup is over and Arsenal have just one more game before the Premier League season kicks off with the visit of Aston Villa. In the space of 10 days, the Gunners also travel to Fulham and have to get past the two legs of the Champions League play-off. One thing the Emirates cup proved was that Arsenal need some more players, although most of us have known that for a while.
Apart from missing a real top quality striker, the most obvious area in need of a signing or two was the defence. Laurent Koscielny did not play yesterday because he played the Napoli game and is just back from an ankle problem. Mertesacker tired badly and Miquel needs more experience. If Arsene Wenger had had another centre back to turn to yesterday, we might have been watching Mikel Arteta lift the trophy yesterday, so the news that Arsenal are on the brink of completing the transfer of the young German international Matthias Ginter, according to Metro, is very welcome.
The 19-year old also plays as a defensive midfielder for his Bundesliga club SC Freiburg, so he will be a handy squad player to have, although not really the big name that Arsenal fans have been hoping for. Having said that, we were more than happy with the partnership of Mertesacker and Kos at the end of last season, while club captain Thomas Vermaelen will be back and fighting for his place before too long.
Ginter, who should be in London for his medical in the next few days, will be emergency cover to start with, but could be a star of the future. Apparently he will cost the Gunners around £6 million. Let’s hope he is the first in a number of signings in the next few weeks.

Arsenal set to beat Spurs to signing of ‘The New Ronaldo’
Arsenal look set to beat Tottenham to the signature of Real Betis winger Alvaro Vadillo, reports The Daily Mail.
The 18-year-old, touted as ‘The New Ronaldo’, became the youngest player to ever start a La Liga match back in 2011, aged 16, 11 months and 7 days.
Vadillo’s lightning speed and fondness for a step-over on the left flank has drawn the comparisons to the Portuguese legend, but the 18-year-old has yet to score a first-team goal for the La Liga side.
He is predominantly right-footed, and like most attacking wingers in modern football, enjoys cutting in from the wing on his favoured boot.
He has turned out for various Spanish youth sides, although has yet to make an appearance for the Under-21s, who won the summer’s European Championship of course.
Manchester United had previously been linked with a deal for the Spanish youngster, and Betis reportedly turned down a £2.5m from the Premier League champions last year. Arsenal now appear favourites to snap up the wonderkid however, who would join Yaya Sanogo at the Emirates this summer, who arrived on a free transfer.
Tottenham could be considering the wonderkid as a long-term Gareth bale replacement, although would likely spend any transfer fee they receive from Real Madrid on a proven international.
Arsenal Close to Second Summer Signing After Offering Contract to Striker
Arsenal are on the verge of making their second signing of the summer after offering a contract to Romanian international Ciprian Marica, according to the forward's agent.
Although the club remain in hot pursuit of Liverpool's wantaway star Luis Suarez, Arsene Wenger's side have endured a relatively quiet transfer window thus far, with 20-year-old striker Yaya Sanogo the sole addition to the Gunners' squad.
With Marouane Chamakh and Gervinho poised to complete their moves to Roma and Crystal Palace respectively, and Nicklas Bendtner also likely to cut his ties with the club this summer, the Gunners could all of a sudden be light up front.
But Wenger could be set to bolster his options in a typically prudent move for Marica after the 27-year-old was released by Schalke this summer.
"It is close to Arsenal, we'll see this week," Giovani Becali, Marica's agent, is quoted as saying by Romanian newspaper Libertatea.
Exclusive: Arsenal Set to Make Man United Attacker First High-Profile Signing of the Summer
Arsenal are reportedly closing in on a deal to sign Man United attacker Nani with the North London side ready to meet the Old Trafford side’s £9m valuation.
CaughtOffside understands that Arsene Wenger had been holding out on making a concrete offer for the 26 year old until he had finally offloaded forward Gervinho and now that the Ivory Coast international has agreed a move to Serie A side Roma the Gunners boss will look to complete a deal to bring in the Man United man.
Nani has been little more than a bit part player in the Man United squad over the past couple of seasons and last term the Portuguese international was handed just seven Premier League starts as the likes of Ashley Young, Luis Antonio Valencia and Danny Welbeck forced themselves ahead of the former Sporting Lisbon man in Sir Alex Ferguson’s pecking order.
Under David Moyes it seems Nani will fare no better, not least as Wilfried Zaha has joined the club to provide the Scot with yet another wide attacking option.
Nani did not join Man United on their tour of Asia and Australia though did impress in a friendly against Crewe Alexandra, during which he scored twice.
A move to Arsenal could help re-ignite a career that has certainly flagged in recent years and Nani is said to be keen on remaining in England should he leave Man United, this despite apparent interest from AS Monaco and a number of Portuguese sides.
There were signs that Nani was effectively coming out of Cristiano Ronaldo’s shadow, making a real impact in 2010/11, finishing the season as the Premier League’s leading assist maker however the campaign ended in heartache as Sir Alex Ferguson elected to not name the wide-man in the starting eleven for the Champions League final against Barcelona and his career has stagnated ever since.
Nani’s adaptability appeals to Wenger and the Arsenal boss is keen on using the Man United man in a number of possible roles and not just exclusively out wide as the Old Trafford star is able to play in an attacking central role as well as in the ‘hole’ behind a striker.
Man United are ready to sell Nani this summer knowing that in 12 months time the player can leave on a free transfer.
